Jan's Story...

Jan Swart's heart beats strongest for kids.

In 2022, a pesky tooth created a sinus infection that left him feeling sicker than a dog. After a few medical checks, it was clear that his blood vessels were in bad shape and he needed a triple bypass. But, there was a catch: his blood vessels were too weak for the procedure. So, they popped in 4 stents and balloons to keep his heart going. Sadly, the stents caused two strokes, one on each side of his body.

He also caught a pesky virus while in the hospital, but by some miracle, he pulled through and was transferred to rehab where he made leaps and bounds towards recovery. However, he's unable to resume his job as a Business Risk Consultant due to the strokes' effects.

But, where one door closes, another opens! Jan's Heart NPC was born to carry on his work for children. He leads the charge in changing the lives of castaway kids.

Jan's road to recovery hit a bump with another stroke in January 2023, and another angiogram with a stent in July 2023, but he's a fighter. He's working hard with his medical team to recover, and while his speech, balance and cognitive functions are affected, fighting the effects of headache’s and fatigue, he's taking each day as it comes and making a difference wherever he can.

To us, he is a miracle!
